This wrongful death case arose out of a collision caused by Defendant, an employee of Oracle Corporation. The Plaintiff was making a left turn when the Defendant, having a blood alcohol level of .16, sped through a yellow light going approximately 50 miles per an hour. The Plaintiff was killed and the driver seriously injured. Plaintiffs filed a wrongful death suit after their two young boys died while in the case of their Foster Mother Leslie SMOOT. Defendant left the children in her Cadillac Escalade for five hours in near 100 degree heat outside her Lancaster child care center. Leslie SMOOT served a 9 month jail term.
